ALBUM RELEASE: Major Curing

‘Major Curing’ is Chimy’s debut album whose groundwork began two years ago. It is a selection of 9 songs amongst an array of 30 songs recorded around this period of time. The inspiration for this LP came, after singer/songwriter Chimy slipped through the grip of death in a fatal accident leaving him with an aftertaste and a yearning for a ‘Major Curing’. This LP is deeply saturated with afro-beat overtones, promising a witty but Afrocentric sonic experience. This body of work was produced by a bunch of relentless creatives from the southern part of Nigeria; renowned producers like Soundchef, Dokashot, Veen, Urktave, Jimohsoundz, Slow Zeus & Chimy himself. This LP also boasts of verses from emerging top guns & lyricists in the entertainment scene of southern Nigeria; the ilk of Dr Barz, Dandizzy, E-Sleek, Nova Bodo & Hypabole respectively.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Born Chimuanya Tobenna Okereke, Chimy is a native of Anambra state but he was raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria. He grew a bone for music while watching his elder brother who is a rapper, rehearse and throw lines. This cultured into songwriting while he develops into a singer/songwriter with influences from the ilk of Timaya, Burna Boy, D’banj, Flavour, Wizkid and Mr Eazi as he grew older. Chimy started making music professionally in 2017, when he also took out time to learn music production and sound engineering. He released his official single “Text Back” in the same year and ever since then; it’s been one release after the other.

He classifies his music as “Afro Junk” because his sound was chiseled by afrobeat, reggae, and dancehall influences at a high propensity. Chimy’s lyricism drips with witty and cheerful sensuality. He is popularly known for hit singles like ‘Text Back’, ‘For Me’ which features Pohzitive, ‘Concept’ which also features Kiienka & Veen, and the most sensational of them all; ‘Trips & Munchies’ which not only features Dr. Barz and Dandizzy; but is the first single off his upcoming album ‘Major Curing’. His single ‘Trips & Munchies’ has racked over 200k streams across multiple streaming platforms. He just recently got nominated; alongside The Cavemen for the Rookie Of The Year category at the Galaxy Music Awards. He is currently signed to 9 Figures Empire.
