DREAMS DO COME TRUE
Qing Madi starts the year with an unhinged anthem, “Favorite Psycho.” She performed her new single, “Favorite Psycho,” in her Colors debut performance. She took to her social media platform to share her excitement over the Colors performance, saying:
“DREAMS DO COME TRUE!!”
The song “Favorite Psycho” gives voice to the mind of everyone who was done dirty in love, with beautiful but savage lyrics like: “Shey you go dey okay, Dey okay, If I walk out on you, baby, But you go soon reap am, you’re destined.”
The song carries the sentiment of an angry lover who, despite the anger and pain, will still ride with you. Despite the anger and wishing they reap what they sowed, she still ties it all with lines like: “If loving you would cost my life too, I’ll do it again.”
Qing Madi’s performance on Colors made me genuinely believe she is in a relationship with someone who actually had another lover that she consciously knew of, and watching them hurt themselves still.
I feel like we know somebody or have been someone who was on the receiving end of one-sided love. No matter how much you advised them that they could do better, they never just listened. Sometimes we want to be chosen; most times we leave them where they’re at till their body sees what they’ve been seeking or better said their body find wentin dem dey find since.
She furthermore serenaded us with a single called “Akanchawa,” which means “good hands” or “hands that bring forth blessings,” showing how she wants her lover to view her as a blessing to them. Never afraid to show her emotions, she expresses total devotion to her lover. This track is a passionate longing and admiration for her lover. Put yourself in this scenario: you see a beautiful man, and you’re just expressing your gratitude for his existence and simping badly. YES, that’s where Qing was when she wrote this piece.
Giving her all for her lover and her listeners, Qing Madi keeps her artistry streak in being a favorite. This song is a testament to Qing Madi’s growing artistry and her ability to create meaningful and emotional connections with her listeners.
The Colors performance is in anticipation of the release of her debut album, “I AM THE BLUEPRINT,” set to drop on the 31st of January. This album has been teased and is set to shake the music industry and we are all here for it. Did you notice she’s adding a tint of blue to every hairstyle — we get the message Qing.
She had a successful 2024, being the 3rd most streamed Nigerian female artist on Boomplay and 3rd on Spotify. The singer and songwriter had an exceptional year in 2024 and is sure to keep the streak going in 2025.
